I can’t seem to sleep in past 6 o’clock! The bloody birds get up with the sun
and sit right outside my window and tweet until I am up. Not that I don’t mind but I would like
to have one morning where I can sleep right through till Rob or Sharon get up.
Even though it’s only 7:30, the sun is shinning bright and
Sharon has a lot planned for today.
We plan to go do a bit of shopping for dinner tonight and tomorrow, as
well as getting some things for Kangaroo Island I didn’t bring with me. Then off for a lot of site seeing! I can’t remember where exactly we are
going but I know one of the places is blue lake! Later tonight when Rob gets home from work we are going to
the national park! I am hoping to
see my first little bit of wildlife there… hopefully.
I ended up going for a run after I woke up: a very sad,
exhausting, pathetic run up Mount Gambier. It was so cold and windy that it felt like I was inhaling
ice! I feel like I’ve got a throat
cold now because of it, but I’m still going for one tomorrow! The view was absolutely breath taking
though! The sun was already over
the mountain hitting the lake perfectly and there were barely any clouds in the sky! Walking down the steps I thought I was
going to trip and fall because my legs were shaking so violently! They felt like limp noodles that were
about to collapse underneath me. I
made it home safe and sound though, with no falls to report.
After all the shopping we went for lunch at a lovely café called Metro… we are going back for dessert once I finish with my blog. After the café we decided to work it off and go for a walk to Blue Lake. I was so happy we got to tour Blue Lake, which is all of Mount Gambier’s water supply. The lake is absolutely stunning! Around December time the lake turns a lovely light turquoise color. It changes color throughout the seasons because of the limestone that settles in the lake; the bluer the water the more pure it is.
The original pump house.
The pump uses gravity to get water to all the house in the area. This is a demonstration of it... it made the most beautiful rainbow!
Just an idea of how blue the water is right now.
It has been quite a blustery day, I can’t complain though because over in Adelaide (my next stop on Wednesday) it is 34 degrees! I’m glad I got my sunscreen today or I might become burnt toast on Wednesday!
