As soon as Rob got home we went to the National Park for my
first bit of wildlife. Within the first 8 minutes of the walk I saw my first
wallaby! I was literally jumping
with joy when I saw it was with a joey near by.
We continued our walk along the edge of the Park and up at
the top of the hill there were about 10 wallabies all feeding together. They paid no attention to us, probably
because they’ve seen hundreds of people before but I was still super
excited!
There were so many purple
marshens around we began to think they might be a pest of some sort. On our way to the koala part of the
sanctuary I was a pair of lovely scarlet rosella, I could have stared at them
for ages if they weren’t constantly flying away.
To my disappointment we hadn’t seen a single koala yet, but
I was happy with what we had seen.
Further along our walk we continued to look for animals, we came to a
look out point for ring-tailed possums.
As Rob was gazing around and Sharon was just catching up, I spotted my
first koala sleeping in a tree about 20ft away. Rob was super surprised I had spotted it and so was I! His ears were so incredibly fluffy and
he looked so cute sleeping I wanted to take him home with me. For the rest of the walk I was in such
a good mood after spotting the koala I was content to do whatever.
Leaving the Park Rob took us on a quick detour to see some
of the ducks. It was feeding time
so there was hundreds of pacific black duck waddling around eating food. At the end of the road Robin stopped
the car and pointed to the lake, a black swan was swimming close to the
shore. I was overjoyed to see one
because of an inside family joke.
Haha I’ve seen a Black Swan!
Black Swan.
Pacific Black Duck.
Trio of Scarlet Rosella
Cape Barren Goose... almost attacked me.
By the time we ate dinner it was 7:45 and I was
exhausted. After writing down all
the different birds I had seen I ended up going to bed just before 10, I could
barely keep my eyes open as soon as my pajamas were on. Ii was a very busy but very exciting
day!
Oh my gosh Kali,
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing day! You are so lucky to have spotted the koala. They're really hard to find. It doesn't surprise me that your eagle eyes found him! Great photos and we're loving your blogs...it makes us feel like we're right there with you! Love you girlie.
