Finally, A Relaxing Night!

Two hours of sleeping and then it was time for me to get up and go.  I managed to pull myself together pretty much right away and get going with my day, I felt pretty good.  When I got on my bus however I fell asleep right away, not a big deal except for the fact that when the bus arrived at Lone Pine another volunteer had to violently shake me awake.

Today I am working with Sam again but it is in aviary… I felt like I should have just stayed home with Jess.  The work was as usual; clean out the bird enclosures and chop some food up, Sandy had me doing something much more fun after this!  I got a break and was given the relaxing task of painting the enclosures black.  It was honestly the most perfect job and I could not have asked for a better one, although it did take a super long time and I barely finished one enclosure because everything is fence.

For lunch I changed it up and had a fertata instead of veggie paddies, I think this change will be permanent.  After eating my delicious lunch I passed out on the table and let Sam and Maddy drip water into my hair while I slept.

After lunch we got the honor of feeding the cassowary!  There wasn’t much after this and Sandy let us off work almost an hour early.  The weather was looking pretty crumby and apparently there is suppose to be a storm tonight, exciting!!!

I woke up just in time to get dropped off at the right stop.  I had a huge blister developing on my foot and decided to tale my shoes off and walk barefoot the rest of the way.  It felt so nice to get my stinking socks off and cover my feet in street filth… good way to end the day; getting dirty.

I met my new roommate whose name I forget but she is really nice and from New Zealand.  I took her to Coles to get food for dinner and then we headed home so I could finally eat.

Back at home I made the loveliest dinner for myself and ate it by myself.  Instead of having just a veggie burger I made a salad as well, felt good to eat delicious greens.

Yummy in my tummy!

I grabbed my Tim Tams, cantaloupe, milk and Oreos and headed over to Jess’s place in the pouring rain.  I wore no shoes, a hoodie and a sarong because I was too lazy to make an effort.  At Jess’s hostel to have to pay for a cup, plate and utensils… I thought this was ridiculous and ended up stealing two cups that belonged to anyone.  We feasted on our food and listened to the English guy named Cy play his guitar, I love watching the guitar being played and couldn’t stop staring.  He was really good and it was so nice to hear someone play the guitar again.

I headed home shortly after so Jess could sleep and so could I.  I went to the TV room quickly just to watch what was on and ended up falling asleep on the couch for a while, I did make it to my bed and fell asleep so quickly.
