Making New Friends at Dinner.

Today Jess and I decided on leaving at 7 instead of 6:45, which was a good idea even though I didn’t get to sleep in but it did give me extra time to get ready.

Jess and I have gotten into a routine of sleeping on the buses.

Today Jess and I get to work with each other in mammals!  There is another girl working with us who is a local named Ashley.  Today was so relaxed and we got to spend almost all of it in the air-conditioned feed shed, what a treat!

We prepared meals for almost all the animals at the sanctuary, which takes a lot of time.  We also cleaned an empty wombat enclosure, good thing it was in the morning when it isn’t as hot or we would have died!  At 11:30 we were invited to watch the animal show, where they brought out Bell the Wombat for the first time.  She is so cute and wears the cutest harness; the way she struts around is too adorable!  Afterwards we got to clean the dingo enclosures, the dingoes were not with us though.  When we were cleaning Jess almost walked into the biggest spider I have ever seen, doesn’t help that it’s poisonous too.  When that was done we prepared the bat food, lots of vegetables are involved in their food, made me jealous of how well fed they are.

For lunch I had veggie paddies and a salad but instead of three like usual Jess gave me a forth!  We also split a mars bar in half because we have now become sugar addicts, not a good thing.

After lunch we got to feed the animals!  First it was the wombats, the last one we did was Phil the wombat.  He is the nastiest out of them all!  He will bite if given the chance and take a good chunk too, giving him his food wasn’t easy.  Phil has to be my favorite though out of all of them though, he likes to bang his head against the gate entrance in attempts to escape and jump at people.

Phil the cutie pie!

Giant spider Jess almost walked into...

The last we fed were the dingoes!!!!!! We got to go inside their enclosure, hand them their food and after touch them and take pictures!!!!  This was the coolest thing ever and made the ending of this day so much better!

Forget the girls name.

Simpson the brother.

So lucky!

Best day ever!

They love us!

We headed straight for home after the dingoes and did not go to the pool but chilled out until dinnertime.  I did some typing outside and let Carl barrow my butter in exchange for some Tim Tams, best deal ever!

When dinner came around I made Jess and I veggie burgers that refused to not fall apart every time we bit into them, eating them with a fork was our only option by the end.

Some how I let Chloe, Carl and Jess convince me to go out and get drinks.  We walked for a good 20 minutes until we found a pub that we liked.  There was live music and Chloe bought we a shot of licorice-flavored alcohol… tasted pretty good.  This guy kept hitting on Chloe the whole night; Carl and I didn’t help the situation as we provoked him even more.  All he wanted to do was have a simple dance with her and buy her drinks… Carl and I agreed that she should say yes and told the guy that she would soon give in and not to give up.  Chloe flipped us the finger more than once that night.

After one shot and one beer we decided to go home, halfway home Chloe and I started singing and we grabbed the attention of a man on the street.  Turned out he is also from Canada, we talked all the way to the hostel until everyone decided another bar was.  So after some convincing we went around the corner to another pub.  I did not get a drink but Jess kept putting hers in my mouth… I was not going to object to a free drink.  We only stayed her for 10 minutes before finally heading back to the hostel where I collapsed on my bed and fell asleep instantly!

The last bar of the night!!!!!
