The first dive spot today is called the Virgin Blue Hole, a
few of us joked that it wasn’t going to be a virgin after we dove into it… it
was really dirty humor. So we dove
to the mouth of the cave and I glided down like always and we all entered the
cave together. As we got further
into the cave I was starting to feel a bit dizzy and just weird, that’s when I
looked at my depth and noticed it was at 105 feet… deepest I have gone. At deep depths people can get what’s
called nitrogen narcosis that makes you acted a bit drunk, this is what I was
experiencing at 105 feet in a very dark tunnel. All of I sudden I figured I was narced and started giggling
underwater and I couldn’t control myself.
When we had to go back through the tunnel I got a little nervous and
wasn’t sure if I could handle getting narced again but there was no
choice! Ill have you know I made
it through safely and acted like an idiot for the rest of the dive. I was constantly grabbing onto Christi
and Ali’s tanks and they would take me for rides around the reef. At one point I took my reg out of my
mouth and started acting like a dinosaur, shortening my arms, gnashing my teeth
and making the dinosaur noises.
Everyone was just cracking up and I laughed so hard underwater that I
started crying and then my mask would start to flood and then I would inhale
salt water in my nose. Christi
couldn’t stop laughing when she heard me laughing underwater so it just turned
into one big laugh fest. Ali and
Michelle just looked at me laughing and shaking their head. Other than all the goofy stuff I did
underwater I did get to see a crocodile fish, which was extraordinarily cool
because it honestly looks just like a piece of coral. When Michelle pointed it out all I could think was cool,
another piece of coral… then I noticed it and it was awesome! At our safety stop I did 5 minutes
instead of 3 just to be safe because I was acting so stupid.
We all gabbed about how awesome that dive was as we made our
way to a beautiful beach. This
beach looked like it came out of a travel magazine… white sand beaches and
perfect blue waters. It was so
insanely beautiful, I felt so honored to be able to be in such an amazing
place. I enjoyed my veggie wrap
that always tastes delicious and then went for a walk along the very small
beach looking for shells that caught my eagle eyes. I found lots of shells and bug’s that like human flesh… not
so much fun. After shell collecting
I found a rope swing and the guy from the first day Nick tried to climb across
a wobbly branch and swing. He
failed horribly and fell into the water halfway across the branch even when he
was on his hands and knees. With
my climbing skills I was confident I could make it to the rope swing. I climbed onto the branch, stood up and
walked across it, arms out and taking very careful steps; trusting my feet like
always. I made it to the swing,
which didn’t surprise me at all and then took the leap… the water was a little
too shallow but oh well. I floated
around in the water some more before we headed off to our new dive spot.
So perfect
Amazing waters!
Failure...
This is how its done.
Tarzan here I come!
Blue corner is how we end the day and we get to use the reef
hooks again! The current on the
surface was so strong we had to hold onto the buoy line while descending. Even below the surface the current
ripped us back, we literally had to crawl across the rock to get to the
shoulder to hook in. By the time
we got to the corner and hooked in everyone was low on air from swimming so
hard, you could kick as hard as you could and wouldn’t move. A good thing about the dive though was
that there were tons of sharks!
We got back on the boat feeling completely exhausted, most
of us slept on the boat.
Seeing as this is Christi’s last night we booked a night
dive on a wreck with Jesse and Matt as our guides. Jesse started off the briefing by telling everyone on the
boat that we are not allowed to penetrate the wreck… Christi and I were the
only ones to laugh our butts off.
Christi and I were the first to descend and we were pretty much alone
for half of the dive until Matt found us.
That is when all the goofing around started, we turned our lights off
and snuck up on Matt and I would cling to his tank and use his as a ride around
the wreck. The coolest thing was
the phosphorescent and watching the tiny shrimp poop it out, all the water was
glowing that night.
We proceeded our night with going to the Taj and danced the
night away until 1 am and then we headed down to the beach for a quick midnight
swim. I have no idea where the
night went but I got home at 4:30… I wasn’t to proud of my sleeping habits that
night.
Great day of diving though!
