Jellyfish Lake!!

Today is the day I have been waiting for, the whole reason I came to Palau in the first place, Jellyfish Lake!!!  We started the day off with visiting the Milky Way, which is limestone clay that has turned the water a milky color.  Spas from all over the world come here to get the clay and today we got it for free!  Michelle jumped into the water, dove down and filled up a bucket with white mud that nobody liked the smell of but me, I grew up with more stinky things.  We all covered ourselves with clay from our toes all the way into our hair… I looked just like a ghost and I no longer had a tan.  Finally we got to jump into the water and no surprise I got stung by things, right under my boob too.

The photo doesn't even do the colour justice.

I'm sexy and I know it.

Thats Christy.

After our spa treatment we blasted off to the Jellyfish Lake!  I was told to wear shoes because there are jagged rocks on the whole trail there but clearly these people don’t know me, I never wear shoes.  As we hiked to the lake I felt an overwhelming sense of joy, I am finally getting to fulfill a dream of mine and I got to say it is a pretty incredible feeling.  We reached the lake and I saw no jellyfish, they were in the middle of the lake so I popped my fins and mask on and swam out as fast as I could.  Soon one jellyfish appeared and then there were thousand s and I was completely surrounded by them!  It was the coolest thing I have ever felt!  They bump into you without stinging and just look like the most peaceful creatures you will ever meet in your life.  They just follow the sun all day long feeding off its rays and then sink to the bottom at night, it’s like one giant circle all day, everyday.  You have no idea how sad I was to leave but I felt such a great relief… I don’t even know how to explain what I was feeling when I left the lake.  It was just such a magical place.

The Lake!

Completed the Jellyfish Lake!

What a feeling!

Before lunch we headed to the German Channel, which is where all the big things come to get cleaned by little things.  As we waited in the sand behind some rocks like hungry spectators I decided to learn how to make bubble circles.  First I started making them with my mouth, which I had no trouble with at all, such an easy task.  The more difficult one was trying to make them with your fists.  You swipe bubbles down from your regulator and holding your fists together you rip them apart near the bubbles and a bubble ring goes flying away from you.  It is probably the best way to make bubble rings but I need to practice it a lot before I will be a master at it.  As I sat there practicing someone grabbed me and pointed into the distance… two beautiful mantas drifted gracefully towards becoming clearer and clearer.  For a moment I actually forgot how to breathe, I just didn’t know what to do with myself when I saw them.  We all sat peacefully watching the mantas come in and out of view and then it was time to head out but that wasn’t the last time they visited… they came back to say hello right before we went up for our safety stop and waved goodbye.

Lunch wasn’t that special so I won’t bore you with details other than we ate on the boat again.

Our next dive spot was Blue corner and holy goodness was it so cool, there were so many sharks and fish rushing around, at one point there was a feeding frenzy with the fish and sharks!  Everyone was just chasing everyone around underwater.  The only thing I could do without was getting bumped into every five minutes by an amateur… it almost got to the point where I could have ripped someone’s reg out.  I was happy to get on the boat and away from everyone else that annoyed me on the dive.  Christi, Carly and I all had a funny dive together though, constantly goofing around with each other.

Today was super exhausting and I am sad to say I had another early night but got two new roommates while I was sleeping topless… oh well.
