A Day At The Beach

The moment I walked into my hostel I was invited out to go to a club, I was more interested in a shower and putting all my blogs online.  I had my lovely shower that wasn’t 4 minutes and did not make a mess of my already messy room.

I grabbed my laptop and sat at a wobbly desk outside the kitchen and started typing and uploading photos.  I enjoyed that after only a few minutes I had an 18-year-old German named Steven who was peeping over my shoulder; I could smell the beer on him even before I knew he was behind me.  I showed him a bunch of my photos and not long after Kye; another guy from Germany joined the photo viewing.  They were both fairly drunk and it was really funny how interested they were.  I was then invited out onto the balcony in my pajamas and no bra to drink beer.  I was kindly escorted out and handed a warm beer.  Everyone at the hostel is super friendly and it is so much fun to talk to them.  At 1, Steven and a new friend, who’s name I forget but I know he is from Denmark, took me for pizza that is just around the corner.  It was so much fun doing something that late a t night.

I was in bed by 2:30 and couldn’t have been happier to sleep in my bed; even if it does squeak a little.

The morning for me was very laid back but very hot.  I went to the Central Market, where I bought my veggies and then to Coles just next store to do the rest of my grocery shopping.  Coles is not a clothing store here; it is the equivalent to Safeway.

More isles of the market.

Walking back in the heat was killer; my armpits were practically dripping with sweat and my bra stuck to me.  As soon as I got to the hostel though I started cooking a lovely toasted sandwich with mushroom, avocado, spinach, egg and cheese.  The sandwich itself attracted lots of attention as it sat on the counter waiting patiently for me to eat it.

While I waited for everyone to get ready for the beach I decided to brush up on my henna skills.

We went to Glenelg in a car, not a bus a car or a taxi; I felt my camera was much safer this way.  It was so nice to actually lie down and suntan on a beach for once.  We all spent about 4 hours or more down at the beach playing volleyball, frisbee and jumping off the pier.  I did not get sunburned because I knew better than to get a burn on my first day in Adelaide.  When I say we I mean Marcel, Kye, Valina, Val, Sebastian, and few other people that I cannot remember.

Valina is the one closest to me... forget the other two though.

As I was coming back from getting an ice cream this group of guys stopped and asked me about my delicious looking cone.  I gave them directions but then they said they were more interested in my name.  I politely shook their hands, one of them asked if I had a boyfriend… my reply was no.  He answered back asking if I wanted one… I said no and laughed at him while walking away.  It was quite amusing having been hit-on by a group of guys, I guess I look dam hot eating an ice cream cone.

Valina, another girl and I decided to go to china town for dinner tonight.  The food was really good and Val and Kye ended up showing up with a new girl named Tony; she is also from Germany.  We all went for ice cream afterwards and just talked on the balcony at the hostel for a while.

I had to teach them how to hold chopsticks.

I am so tired though I have gone to bed way before everyone else.  I am about to fall asleep right now actually, tata Canada!
