Round 2 at the Gardens

Other than watching a scary movie with everyone, my day didn’t start until 3 o’clock.  I did however make a deal with Val the French man; I make him lunch and he makes me dinner, a very good deal.

We saw a wall of mini cars on the walk to the gardens.  So cool.

Tony, Val, Kai and I all went to the botanical garden… I know I’ve already been but it’s so beautiful I couldn’t resist a second time.  When we got to the gardens we did a bit of walking around and I smelled every flower but only picked a few.  The guys were super tired so we all sat down on the grass in the sun, listened to music and had a nap.  I didn’t nap long because the magpies were getting so close to us I decided to share with them my granola bar.  Val and Kai did their best to jump over a ravine in the garden but only Kai had the success.  We stayed in the park for about 2 hours and a bit just lounging around on the grass and climbing trees.

Kai climbing a tree... shirtless.

Tony is the girl, Val is in the white shirt and Kai isn't wearing one.

The flowers are so soft.

The temptation to put them in my hair was to great.

Kai and I walked home together because Tony and Val walk super slowly; Kai and I are speed walkers!  We got home and I watched a few episodes of the Big Bang Theory and then decided I was too hungry to wait for Val to make me food so I made a sandwich.  Two Pokémon episodes later and Val came into the kitchen to start dinner… I was still hungry though so it was okay.  He chopped mushrooms and watch some episodes with me while he waited for the pasta water to boil.  It seems that the older generation of guys at the hostel like Pokémon too; makes me very popular when they see me watching it and it makes me feel like less of a nerd.  Dinner was so freaking good!  The mushrooms were my favorite part in the pasta; they were sautéed perfectly.

Men don't belong in the kitchen...

Mmmmmm so good!

Val doesn't know how to keep his mouth closed.

After dinner I stayed in the kitchen and talked to Sam (this is my made-up name for this German guy that is 31) about all the work he is planning to do in Australia and how he might come to Canada to work as well.  Not that this conversation wasn’t most stimulating but I wanted to go watch Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring with everyone else in the TV room.  I cuddled a giant green owl that I am pretty sure Kai raped the first night I was here… but no matter.  It was so good to re-watch the movie again so I could learn all the names over and become that much more of a weirdo… I feel like watching it again though.

I went to bed at around 9:30 because I was so tired and apparently when my roommates came in at 10 I was a fast asleep mumbling things in German.  I’m glad that German was so easy for me to learn; I guess I am just that talented I picked it up subconsciously.
