Day 1 in Melbourne

First day in Melbourne and I had so much planned to do!  I also got a new roommate named Haressa who is from Adelaide.  My other roommates are Kristina (30 and Irish), Katrina (Italian), Sarah (English) and a crazy old lady that scared us all about bed bugs, mice, and cockroaches in the hostel.  Took us till about noon to get our acts together and go do stuff.  Our first stop was the Victorian Market, which has absolutely everything!  I got a lot of my food from the market and did a lot of browsing around.  We almost considered buying a bunny while we were there because they are so cute.  I finally got my smoothie that I had been craving since the morning and Haressa got her donuts.  I dropped my groceries off at the hostel and changed into shorts because I was way too hot in jeans.

The bunny we wanted to buy.

Chickies!

Duckies!

So many eggs!

This is soap but it is too beautiful to use.

Off to shopping!  Haressa invited me out to a club with some of her friends she is meeting up with… a new dress and shoes were in order!  We spent a couples hours just walking around and checking out stores and ate sushi for lunch.  I wasn’t prepared to spend $30 on a dress and Haressa knew that, so instead I paid $15 for a cute dress that I am absolutely in love with and a pair of black heels that I can walk in for $15 as well.  I am really excited to go out tonight.

After shopping Haressa took off to take a nap at the hostel and Kristina, Katrina and I headed to the Melbourne Museum.  It closed in an hour but that was all the time we needed.  We saw the fossil exhibit, animal, bugs, rocks and the ocean critters.  It seems that Australian museums are really into taxidermy.  All the exhibits were really cool and I was very happy I got to see them.

Just another fountain.

ANACONDA!

Dinosaur.

Pterodactyl!

What roamed Australia a long time ago.

Bugs and more bugs

Cool fact about the native bee.

It's a living dinosaur!

Just a little scary...

All the different sand dollars.

I did a bit of shopping for groceries that I need and then headed home with the two girls and made them dinner.  We were searching for Haressa but couldn’t seem to find her in the room and became worried about her where abouts.  Turned out she was asleep on her bed with a blanket over her head… it honestly looks like she wasn’t there.

After dinner the two of us got ready and then headed out.  I was so excited to meet her friends and have fun at the club.  The friends I met were from all over Europe and one of them was celebrating her birthday.  It was a great a night with lots of dancing and a few glasses of Champaign to celebrate.  Haressa and I ended up sleeping in the hotel that her friends were staying at that night.  There were six of us sleeping in two queen-sized beds.  It was fun nonetheless.

What a great night in Melbourne.
