Paint that doesn't come off

My alarm clock interrupted some pretty awesome dreams this morning, I was not too keen on getting up after that but I knew I had to.

The koalas seemed to have disappeared during the night and were not to be found in the morning for the tours.  It was so difficult to spot them that we were jumping for joy when we did.  The smoke that Dave created last night with his fire is something we thought scared away the koala; Dave always gets the blame when he isn’t around.

Michaela and I had the BEST job today!  We got to clean and paint a funny old milking shack in the enclosure near our house.  The drywall was falling off the roof and walls, spiders were everywhere and it just looked gross.  It didn’t take us long though to clean it up.  The windows became see-through once more and you could finally tell that the walls were white.  Michaela and I grabbed red, green, blue, and black paint from the workhouse, which is a huge cattle building now filled with old stuff.  Michaela carefully painted each post while I whipped my brush in the air franticly like a musical conductor.  I did take my time at one point to paint a shelf and table, after that though I went crazy with paint and had fun.  At the end I had paint all over my hands, spots on my boots and paint on my pants.  I hope I can get most of the paint out of my pants; I’ll be quite disappointed if I can’t but they were bound to get dirty at some point or another.  Michaela and I finished our paint job by hand-printing a wall and signing our names, best work we’ve done together yet!

Kaylan, another staff member, got us to clean the bus windows before our tour tomorrow.  If we wanted to see through the windows he suggested it would be a good idea to clean them.  It wasn’t a difficult job but it was dirty!  Red dust covered what was a white tour bus and after some work the windows looked good as new.

After all my work in the day I decided on a run… this time I was going to run to Hanson Bay.  I didn’t really realize how far it was to run but I felt like doing it so I did.  About an hour or so later I returned from my run red-faced and panting heavily.  A brief conversation with Claire and Meghan allowed me to learn it was about 8-10K to the beach… I ran 16K this evening.  I am very proud of myself, which made me feel better about the 4 rows of cookies n’ cream Kit Kat bar I had with lunch.

My fantastic paint job.

Michaela's paint job.

Not much has or will happen tonight because everyone is fairly tired.  Tomorrow though we are going to Flinders Chase!  Another adventure to look forward to!
