Walk to Bondi!

For some reason I can only sleep till 7:30 in the morning and then it is hopeless to try and sleep more.  So after breakfast I put more money on my phone plan, organized myself for the walk down to Bondi and then headed out.

The walk to Bondi Beach is about 1 hour and 37 minutes long; I took a little less than 2 hours to get there.  Oh my goodness was I relieved when I saw ocean and then beach; my feet were super sore and I had been sweating so much in the heat.  I put on my 30 SPF sunscreen, laid down on my stomach and fell asleep listening to my music.  It was an hour later when I woke up and switched sides… don’t worry I wasn’t burnt at all.

Bondi Beach and beach babes!

After another hour of sunning my front side I jumped into the water and went for a refreshing swim, not before I was tackled by massive waves.  I came up with a routine of jumping down before the waves got too close, which worked every time.

Hmmmm, so inviting.

Water selfie.

Back on the beach I popped my ear buds back in and started to dry off, 5 minutes later I got a call from someone who might be giving me a ride to Brisbane… and they were at Bondi as well.  I packed up my soaking wet and sandy towel and headed for the destination I was told.

I forget the guys name but he seemed very shy and nice, had no idea where we would go though on the trip.  I had the feeling it would be a boring drive if I went with him.  A goodbye was in order and a “I’ll call you”.

I was desperate for food by this point and walk along all the shops to find somewhere to eat.  Knowing I was coming to the end of the shops I felt defeated and decided I would have to wait another few hours to eat.  My luck changed though and a Bondi Burritos restaurant came into view!  Relief was what I was feeling and even more so when I sat down and ate some delicious nachos!

FOOD!

I bought a bus ticket and some pasta, and then jumped on a bus for home.  I had to get off at the Bondi Junction which I had no trouble doing.  Buying my train ticket was also easy but getting off at the right stop was another story.  I managed to fall asleep right before my stop and woke up after we had passed, I didn’t realize this until I had passed 12 other stops and the train looked ghostly.  The guy next to me smiled and almost laughed when I asked where the central stop was… it was another 20 minutes behind us and I had been riding the train for a good 40 minutes already.

12 stops past the right one.

I got on the right train this time and got off at the right stop.  Making my way back to the hostel was a piece of cake after this and I was overjoyed to see my room and make some food.

I was supposed to meet up with another gentleman at 8 that is also going to Brisbane but he was busy and still at work, a meeting at 9 is all he could do.  He offered to pick me up in his car from the hostel and drive around for 30 minutes or so, so we could talk.  I wasn’t feeling threatened by this guy at all so I decided to go… it was a good choice.

His name is Harry and he greeted me with the biggest smile ever.  His father is from India and mother from Australia, he lives here in Sydney and will be driving to the Gold Coast to visit his mother.  It was really easy to talk and get to know each other fast.  He is a vegetarian just like me with a bachelor in technology, he owns his own yoga center and says he practically lives there.  We talked about the Hindu gods, how he practices ayurvedic medicine and knows lots about the vedantas (most won't know what these words are so you might have to google them).  He also took me to his favorite spot at Coogee beach along the rocks where he goes to study and meditate.  I was super excited when he told me that he does this trip all the time and showed me each spot on his iPhone that we would go to and all the best beaches.  This guy is defiantly a winner and I can’t wait to travel up to Brisbane with him!  He even opened up my door for me when we left the beach… what a gentleman!

Back at the hostel I told my roomies about my great find, the two British brothers Tim and Alex had some things to say that I won’t repeat but they are boys so what can you do.  Sydney from Canada was very excited for me and almost jealous.  I went to bed that night very happy and very excited knowing my adventure would continue.
